Emotional Eating

Why Diets Feel Like Punishment (And What Actually Works Instead)

Have you ever heard someone say, “I love being on a restrictive diet!”

No? Neither have I.

The truth is, most diets feel like punishment.

  • You dread starting them.
  • You count down the days until they’re over.
  • And halfway through, you feel drained, deprived, and totally disconnected from your life.

Sure, restrictive diets might give you results in the beginning.

But they often come at a high cost: your energy, your emotional well-being, your ability to actually enjoy your life.

And eventually, something snaps.

You “slip up.” You feel like a failure. You give up. And suddenly, you’re back at square one. Or worse, feeling even more frustrated, ashamed, and out of control than before.

So if you’ve ever thought, “What is wrong with me? Why can’t I just stick to it?” please know this:

The problem isn’t you. It’s the approach.

What Makes Diets So Hard to Stick With

Diets are designed around restriction.

  • “Eat this, not that.”
  • “Track every bite.”
  • “Ignore your hunger.”
  • “Power through the cravings.”

You’re told that discipline is the answer. That if you just try harder, you’ll succeed.

But humans aren’t robots. We’re complex, emotional, intuitive beings. When we ignore our bodies, our emotions, and our lived experiences, we’re setting ourselves up to fail.

And when the inevitable happens—a stressful week, a sleepless night, a bad mood—we fall off the plan, and the guilt sets in.

This isn’t just discouraging. It’s damaging.

There Is Another Way

In my private coaching program, we take a completely different approach.

  • We don’t rely on willpower or discipline.
  • We don’t ban your favourite foods.
  • We don’t give you a rigid plan to follow.

Instead, we focus on sustainable habits that feel good.

We ask:

  • Where do you most need help right now?
  • What’s already working for you?
  • What’s one small, doable step you can take today?

Sometimes that step is food-related. Sometimes it’s about sleep, stress, movement, or mindset.

Because your health isn’t just physical. It’s emotional. It’s mental. It’s holistic.

And everything is connected.

But What If I Need Fast Results?

I get it. When you feel stuck in your body, the idea of slow progress can feel unbearable.

But let me ask you this:

How did the fast fix work for you in the past?

If it truly helped, you wouldn’t be reading this. You wouldn’t still be searching.

The truth? Quick fixes don’t last. They burn out. And they leave you back where you started—or further behind.

Real change might feel slower at first, but it’s the only kind that actually sticks.

Because instead of forcing you into a rigid box, it teaches you how to work with your body. It helps you build trust, confidence, and resilience—so you never have to “start over” again.

You Deserve to Feel Good in Your Body

  • If you’re tired of feeling like a failure…
  • If you want to get off the diet rollercoaster for good…
  • If you want a peaceful, empowered relationship with food…

…this is your invitation.

My 1-to-1 coaching program is designed to meet you where you are and help you create lasting change, one doable step at a time.

No shame. No obsession. Just compassionate, effective support tailored to YOU.

You don’t need another diet. You need a way of living that you can actually enjoy.

Let’s build it together.

With love, Rita
